 Impressive find! Copperheads are beautiful, but yeah... you're braver than I! Although, that said, I'm too big of a baby to tangle with a cute little hognose "just in case"

I've heard they will "inflate" their neck to look big and bag, if that doesn't work they will "play dead", if that diesn't work then they will probably hiss and strike. I read somewhere thay they hardly ever bit though.

    Re: Copperhead?

Their tails start out that bright yellow/green when they are babies, but fade with maturity. I have a dim memory that it's supposed to look like a worm and lure in prey, but I may be talking out my butt too.

They are cute little things, and seem to be very reluctant to bite. The ones I've encountered have tried every avenue of escape first, and only struck defensively.

    Re: Copperhead?

Oh, I know the chances of a hognose bite is REALLY slim, but I'm paranoid about possible allergies I don't know about. I've never even been stung by a bee (bees like me I guess!) or anything and for all I know I could be terribly allergic. I'm just paranoid. I don't know and don't wanna find out, lol!

    Re: Copperhead?

From what ive heard, hog's have to really chew on you for a little while to put any venom in ya, so more than likely a quick defensive snap probably wouldnt do anything at all.
