Theres the problem. UTH is an Under Tank Heater. Like a heating pad for reptiles. Heat lights and lights period suck out humdity and will dry stuff out quick..

We use a couple of tanks for now. You said the mesh lid was "mostly" covered...I would duct tape whatever remainder is open. On both of our glass tanks our humidity stays right at 55-58 % with the entire lid covered with tape....even the one that still has a light in addition to the UTH. If you ontinue to use the light...make sure a portion of the water dish is under the light...helps a lot.

Your humidity also depends slightly on the ambiant air RH. If your like me and live in the south low humidity is not the issue. But if you live in Az then you might have lower Ambiant RH..

You have to have SOME opening in the screen cover to allow for air flow. Stagnant air is worse than low humidity.

Digital or the dials? Where in the tank are they located (midway up, down low, or up high?)

mine had mite when i brought him home and i uesd Reptile Relief. works like a charm! but the only way i knew is he soaked and when he did there were black specks in the water.
