Male Or Female???
I took my guy out of his tank for his first bath and I noticed 2 little pointed things near his tail. Haven't had him sexed yet, just wondered??? He had his first hopper on Sun. and I can see what looks to be white fur near his bottem. Please help???

Sounds like you're describing spurs - both males and females have them.
Don't know about the white fur though.

Like mentioned allready its the spurs you are describing.Now the white fur thing has me lost for an answer :eek: :eek: :eek: .I recommend a vet checkup.Let us know what you find out about the fury stuff:eek:

Not really fur for sure, just white on the inside near his tail. Could it be from eating his first big meal? I just thought it might be waste from the hopper on it's way out! What are spurs??

They're legs, or at least they were a couple hundred million years ago. Boas and pythons still have remnants of these lost limbs.

I'm not really sure exactly what you're describing about the white stuff near his tail...but maybe it's some urates that he crawled through and it dried on him?

Vestigial legs. In some boids you can acctually see what looks like acctual leg bones/hips in xrays. The males use the spurs to stimulate the female during mating/courting.
