It's definitely a real snake, they didn't have fancy Harry Potter CG snakes back when Labyrinth came out!

Pine snake's belly is too dark, I think Judy's dead on with the mud snake! That's exactly what the belly looked like! Red with some black checkering, I bet that's the one. Thanks!
