Hiding places.
I have a baby bp and I'm trying to supply her with hiding places she will use. I've heard that the base to a flower pot works well. What has worked well for you guys? What size should it be? I know that they like to feel the sides around them.
Thanks for your help.

They work fine, make sure the snake barely fits in there though because that's how they like their hides.

Re: Hiding places.
Do the cardboard toilet paper rolls work well (I've heard some people use them)?

Not really. Any thing in the shape of a half hide is not good. it only touches them from above and the sides, the snake will feel it is vulnerable from the front and back. (assuming you want to cut it and make it into a half log)

Re: Hiding places.
I have two cardboard toilet paper rolls with one end tucked in, but I haven't caught her using them. So I'm not sure if they're the answer or not. I'm trying to find things around the house that I can turn into hides. Anymore ideas?

Here's a good hide as well - go to the dollar store, get a set of three bowls for $1 (can also find them at dollar general for the same price) and then solder out an entrance for them.

I don't like the idea of using toilet or papertowel rolls because you can't just lift the hide off the snake. They can wedge themselves in there really good and won't come out unless they want to.
Just about anything around the house that you can turn into a shallow little cave will do....something you can cut or make a little entrance into. Old tupperware bowls or other plastic bowls you may have buried in the back of kitchen cabinets...butter tubs....sourcream tubs...whatever. Plastic is ideal because it's easy to clean. Cardboard is OK, but needs to be replaced frequently.
Or you can get some molding clay and build little hides with it. The kind you bake in the oven to cure it. I remember someone from a long time ago making little igloos for their snakes...very cute!
