i just found this on another reptile website. very interesting i think. a good close up veiw of the inside of the creatures we love most.

Wow, it's amazing how different, yet so similar they are to us.

Its sad that the snake had to suffer in order for us to be educated.

I don't think the snake "suffered" in order to be disected. Things like that are done on animals that have already died.

I added a warning to the original post because it's a very graphic and there may be some people who would not appreciate stumbling into something like that.

Judy, if you read the paragraph above the dissection pictures, it tells of the snake's unfortunate demise(IE: kept in a tub in a girl's car in the garage during winter, snake rescued too late, died of severe RI).


Very interesting, though the pictures could have been brighter.

I wasnt refering to the disection as suffering, I was refering to the fact that the snake died of a RI. If the owner knew that her parents might not want a snake in the house, she should consulted with them first and maybe eductated them about snakes.

Tonight, actually, one of my friends came over and touched my snake, his first time. I asked him why he was afraid of them and he said that he was afraid of them biting him. So I placed my hand gently over Ghengis Khan's head and let my friend touch his back. He still doesnt like them like we do, but he has a little more respect for them.

That being said, those pictures are really cool.

Congrats on helping your friend be more accepting of snakes. We can't expect everyone to like them as much as we do, but it's always great when we can help someone overcome at least some of their prejudice.

i didn't think these pics would get a warning but it's understandable. i came across these disection pics and wanted to share for educational purposes

(i guess i should have added that much with the original posting)and just becuz they are interesting.
i read so much about RI and "popping" or "clicking" sounds coming from the mid section of snakes being mistaken for spine cracking.as is seen the lungs are located in the snakes mid section.
hopefully some people can learn more about there snakes anatomy and biology and be better aware of certain problems which may occur.

I'm sorry...I didn't mean for that to come across as a warning against you or anything. I don't think there's anything wrong with the link or the pictures....but there ARE folks who might prefer to avoid them and once you've clicked on the link, at least the first picture is pretty much "in your face"...so I thought I'd give folks a heads-up about what was behind that curtain.

no,no,it's all good .i didn't think anything was directed against me or anything.

just didn't occur to me to mention the graphic-ness of the pics.i know some people have squeamish stomachs and are sensitive to such things.
similar story,i use to have a royal python that was rescued from a kid that kept it in a box under his bed for 4 years.it had improper heating and little water the snake was only 2 feet long, and it wouldn't eat for me. it was very sensitive near where it stomach would have been. it eventually died from an undigested rat.at the time i had no clue but if i knew which organs where affected maybe i could have done a little more, maybe.
hopeing the pics help in some way
