Re: I just popped HER!
You still may want to get a vet to double check by probing the snake. You could have seriously hurt the snake by doing that!

Re: I just popped HER!
If you're not experienced popping, it could still be a boy and you weren't able to evert its hemipenes. Did someone teach you how to probe? It took me months to finally be able to do it with confidence - even on known males.

You cannot 'pop' a snake of that age.(4', I believe from your profile). A male gains full control of his 'tools' at about 28" in length. After that, it is nearly impossible to evert the hemipenes on a male. An experienced prober is necessary.

I'm not sure how true that is. I don't pop myself, I do probe...anyway when I bought my adult male het ghost last year the breeder had no problem everting the hemipenes to show me it was a male and producing sperm plugs.

With experience - any sized snake can be popped - Adam does it all the time.
I will agree though that someone who's "read" how to pop, or is just learning to pop would have more difficulty properly popping a large adult and probing would be easier for that keeper to determine the sex.

I am glad that I learned this. I understood that sub-adult or adult males have so much control that they can only be everted with a harmful amount of pressure, whereas hatchlings will evert with almost no pressure at all.

i've read that too, but i think its more of a provisional statement to discourage newbs from trying it... maybe. i've popped adult snakes, but only in the wild. i've never needed to sex a snake yet.

Re: I just popped HER!
It is possible to pop any size snakes... but should only try if you know how to do it....
But if you know how to then your probably right that its a female.. you should have someone whos real experenced with popping try or take it to a vet...
good luck
