Enterobacter Cloacae?

On another list there is a girl who bought two baby balls from someone at a show. One had lumps on it, and the seller said they were just scars. So they picked that one because they felt sorry for it and picked out another one.

People told this girl to take them to a vet. Today said girl posted that they went to the vet and they had ticks, so they got meds for that. Also they got Baytril for the lumps, and the vet took a sample of one of the lumps and sent it off to a lab. The lab work came back and the vet told this girl that the snakes have "Enterobacter Cloacae". The vet also said the meds will make the lumps get worse before getting better. Oh yes, both snakes have horrible lumps now all over them.



So just in the world do these snakes have? I've never heard of "Enterobacter Cloacae" before. I told her to join here and ask, but she has yet to do so. No one on this other list knows what it is, etc.


I'm courious to learn about this and to be able to give info back to this girl I'm pretty mad that some vendor at a reptile show would sell these snakes KNOWING they had problems and lie about what they had.

Def. sounds like humans can get it, did the vet tell them this? I googled the term "Enterobacter Cloacae" and came up with alot of info on it.....

The Vet had mentioned a bacterial infection that causes lumps. We took Ray in on Monday and were asking about swelling he had. I don't know if it was this bacteria specifically but he did say humans could get what he was talking about. BTW he did not think Ray had it based on the localized swelling around the eye.

There is an article I found aboutsomeone getting it from "eating" a snake .... yuck ...

This girl said the seller was just going to the lumpy snake to his king snake if he could not sell it....
Yeah then his king snake would be a lumpy snake.

This is completely horrifying.. it gives me chills thinking about that.
Unbelievable that someone would support an excuse-for a breeder who said that.. what a sad world we live in.
