What do you guys think about using a ultrasonic fog gererator to raise humity in a ball pythons tank?

My experiance with fog machines to raise humidity is not good. They produce so much humidity, within hours you have to refill the water. If you don't, then the fogger stops working. IMO, a waste of time and money. You could mist the tank with a 99 cent squirt bottle from waly-world

Maybe my type of subtrate is to blame (mulch)



Maybe also that the whole top of the tank is screen?

Screen tops on glass tanks make holding your humidity in really tough. But it does help a lot to cover most of the screen. I used clear contact paper from Walmart. It cuts easily and has just enough stickiness to it to cling to the screen, but is easily removed it you want to. And it doesn't look as messy as seran wrap or aluminum foil that some folks use. Just cut about 2" off of each corner to allow for some air flow.

Also...are you using lights above the tank to heat it? That will also suck moisture from the air inside. (And if you are, be sure to cut a hole in the contact paper to allow for the lamp)

i use a ceramic heater, I think I will try covering most of the screen and see how that goes,

I used one for a while hooked up to a timer that would run for 1/2 hour two times a day. It is perfect during the shed cycle but unnecessary for any other time.
