    Herp Room Quandrie

Ding Ding let the words begain.

Ok heres the deal I have the oppertunitity to turn two garden rooms that I have attached to my house into a 280 sqft herp/ craft room, Complete with climate control, sink with running water and. Drum roll please built in wall racks with hard wired flexwatt and built in thermostates . Now right now I only have the two snakes. But I will be going to Daytona 2007 with oodles of cash in hand so that’s no problem (Adam get them pieds ready and I want spiders and bumble bees, would you give a bulk discount on clowns?).

Heres my delima. Should I build in the racks or should I buy rolling racks from somewhere and do it that way? Sugestions? People with more that a few snakes help (ie Cue, Adam, Gin, Daniel, JLC). I want the built in's but if I ever had to move a whole rack for some reason (flew watt fails or need to replace thermostats) that would be a pain.

Well, at this point, I'm still dreaming of having oodles of snakes. But I'll tell you what I'd do and why. I would opt for mobile racks. Here's why:

    1. If there's any reason you want out of the snake business, you can sell them.
    2. If you move, you can take them with you.
    3. If you get more snakes than your current arrangement can fit, you can re-arrange them to optimize space.
    4. And any other reason you may find yourself wishing your snakes were on a different side of the room or whatever.

I agree on wheels. If you have the money, go with Freedom Breeder or ARS racks. Love em!

I'll second... or.. ahem... fourth on the wheels... And I wouldn't do anything "built-in" if I were you.

Make sure you have lotsa power in that room too... a 20amp dedicated breaker is fine for quite a few racks... then you can add a breaker later if you expand a bunch.
