It sounds like you understand ball pythons quite a bit better. I'd say wait at least the 3 months, so it's not an impulse buy. I know snakes can be addicting, and I know I usually have to seriously restrain myself.
I'm glad you understand the error of your ways, and I wish you the best of luck with your new bp. They are wonderful animals, but it sounds like you already figured that out.
