New Rack
I placed an order a few days ago for a RhinoRaxx rack. I'd really like to thank some of you on this forum for bringing to my attention that snakes shouldn't be housed together other than for breeding purposes, even if they are of the same species. Learning this has prompted me to start ordering racks so I can have room for each of my snakes to live in its own separate enclosure way sooner than I would have if I had not joined the forum or had the opportunity to talk with other enthusiasts/breeders with large collections.
So, to start off my rack setup, I have purchased the blanket/sweater combo rack, identical to the one below, except it has 5 shelves instead of 6. If I am satisfied with this rack, my next rack will most likely be the RhinoRaxx "Ball Room Rack," capable of housing adult BP's. For some reason, collecting racks seems almost as exciting as the snakes themselves...

Re: New Rack
Looks good to me let us know your thought about it when it arrives.,

Re: New Rack
I will. It will be some weeks before that happens, though. I also need a thermostat ready for when it is time to set up.

Re: New Rack
Good luck with it! I personally wouldn't buy a pack of gum from the guy,(probably because I would have to wait 8 weeks for delivery) but I know the product is quality. Let us know how long it takes to arrive.

Re: New Rack
Yeah I know, the build-it-when-you-order-it part sucks. But, I liked the design enough to give it a try.
And I was thinking about the Herpstat ND. Would there be any reason to reccommend a Helix over this?

Some people would. Helix has a long track record as the proportional thermostat of choice for the big breeders. And for good reason, it is an awesome piece of hardware. Spyder Robotics, the makers of Herpstat have been around for less time but they make excellent units and Dion backs it up with top notch customer service. I think you will be happy whichever way you go.

If you could even get a response from him.
He'll spend days posting pics of his boas online but can't take 10 seconds to reply to a potential customer.
Good luck Rapture. Hopefully it won't take 3 months for it to arrive.
As far as the Herpstat ND goes, I have a few of the regular Herpstats and have never had any problems with them.
The Helix are nice but a bit more difficult to set up and adjust the first time.
You shouldn't have a problem with either brand.

Re: New Rack
i wouldn't say the helix is more difficult to setup? both have probes and both have buttons. i run both, more helix than herpstats. both will do the job, i did have a problem with one herpstat, had to send it back and it was promptly repaired. dion at syderrobotics is a good guy to deal with!
i haven't had a problem with helix so i give them an edge up in my book. i know alot of breeders that use helix also with no problems. you could not go wrong either way.
