    More females?

How many females would you buy if you are planning on a Co Dom? I have one normal female and a normal male, but I want some more normal females so I can get more clutches. How many females could one male "impregnate" (SP?) in a season without tiring him out?

    Re: More females?

So what I would do is put the male in the female's tub for a day, then switch to the next?

    Check out Step 3:
Starting Nov. 1 we introduce males into the female's containers. We leave them in for 2 days or shorter if we observe copulation.

Also, it takes more than one lock up for the female to become gravid. I know some that will let them lock up a dozen times before moving to another female.

    Re: More females?

    Day one- with female #1
Day two - with female #2
Day three - with female #3
Day four - with female #4
Day five - with female #1
Day six - with female #2

    And so on...

    Is that good?

    Re: More females?

what i do is put the male in with one girl until he "locks up" or 2 full days. if he "locks" or "copulate" sooner, then i rest him sooner. rest for 2 full days, then repeat with next girl (lucky guy). every 4 weeks or so give everyone a week off.

Ok, one more question about CoDoms and Recessives.

If I bred an albino to a Mojave, would all of them, including the Mojaves, be het for albino?

    Re: More females?

48 hours is good unless you observe copulations sooner. As soon as you see a lock, and they seperate, you can move the male onto the next female.... Other than that.. in your scenario... give your male some rest too! Don't forget to take a break... its a long process... you've got plenty of time. You're pairing animals from November to February or even later in some cases.... If you're doing 4 females, take 2 or 3 days off and offer some food.. he may eat, he may not.. but its good for him to have the rest and have the opportunity to eat... if he eats.. remember to give him the 48 hours to digest afterwards... then right back to female #1 again...

Its a tough life... 4 girls, eat, rest, 4 girls again... etc... they've got it rough...
