I had both rats and mice as pets years ago. I LOVED the rats (I had 27 hairless rats at one time) but hated the mice, man did they stink. They all killed my allergies though so they had to go bye-bye. Hate to say it cause I love my snakes, but rats were probably one of my favorite animals I've ever owned.

I can't compare em yet because I have about 10 mice, but only 2 rats. So far though, both smell bad, but the rats smell like horses.
