IF a snake soaks to rid itself of mites, it will probably be successful in getting rid of at least a few...in the water dish. You'll be able to see them sitting there, drowned, in the bottom of the water dish. That's how I discovered that one of my new additions had mites. I was checking his water dish to see if it needed filling/refreshing, and saw a little black spot in the bottom. It was a mite.

By the way, this is why I only use WHITE water dishes!
