my baby wont eat
i tride feeding bonez on tuesday, his regularly eating date but he didnt eat, he went up to it snifed it a bit, then the rat threw some bedding at it and ran to the corner. after a lil mot sniffin it and gettin bedding thrown he just went away and wouldnt go after it. got the rat infront of his hiding place for alil and nothing happened so i took it out. i tride again yesterday no luck so i went and got a fuzzy thinking he might not want that big a meal but he didnt go after that either. he shed sept. first or second so like a week ago. i dont know if i should just wait a couple more days maybe hes just not hungry? i heard bps are notorious for skipin meals

Re: my baby wont eat
Double check your temperatures and humidity (92 warm end, 82 cool end, 50-60% humidity).
I've seen rats/mice walk up to and walk over ball pythons w/o them being ready to eat, it might freak them out, and shut down their feeding response. Try and raise the temperature a degree or two, and try again in a week. Attempting to feed day after day is stressful and will probably cause him to continue to refuse food.

How old is He (You called it "baby")? Do You always feed him live rats? It is not recommended, only if it always eat them like that. Is the rat's size more than the double size of the snakes head?

What are you talking about?
Live feeding is perfectly fine under the right conditions.
When assessing appropriate prey size, the size of the snake's head has NOTHING to do with it.
Here we go again....

He is refering to size due to the fact if the rat you are trying to feed is not slightly bigger than the girth of your snake then the meal is to large for him to eat. The name "baby" is making him think you are attempting to feed an actual baby ball and rat! which is definitely tooo big.

I didn't say that live feeding wasn't right. I live feed my sanke always. Sometimes is not recommended because live prey can fight back and that might stress out some snakes, just like you said in your previous post.
About the prey size: You should never give your snake a prey it cannot handle. Size does matter. You wouldn't give a 6" rat to 18" snake.

He mentioned offering the snake a "fuzzy" and also mentioned that it ate rats. A baby ball can, in fact, eat a fuzzy rat safely.
