    hypo vs albino

i will be purchasing a pair of het morphs in the next few months but i have one problem. not sure which to get. I really like both the albino and the hypo, its a toos up between the 2. So from a breeding perspective, i am thinking that the hypo will benifit me more down the road when breeding it(hypo) to other morphs. what are your thoughts.

    thanks, nate

They're both awesome in their homozygous form... but I have to agree with you about the crosses. The hypo just seems to add so much more to the crosses. The latest Albino crosses are also very cool.. The Albino Stripe, the Albino Pied, they're both stunners. A lot of people also love the Albino Spider...

Whichever way you go... I don't think you'll be disappointed either way!

    Good luck with your decision!

The albino is a steady morph that doesn't seem to go down in price very much as more and more people are getting into the scene. They are an always wanted morph. I would go with the albino, constancy is a good thing.

Good point ... but did you know that hypos are the only mutation that has actually gone up in price over th years?

I say hypos ... hypo girls are almost impossible to find compared to albinos ... rarer == better investment.

    Re: hypo vs albino

I like Hypo's but I wouldn't start my collection with one. I'd start with the albino , I'll tell you why you probably don't have the other bp's to mix with the hypo yet so why get it first. The albino is much more impressive to the untrained eye , some one who knows nothing of bp morphs will almost always pick the albino. I have an albino already and yes I want a hypo in the future to breed to my pastel but I'm very happy I picked the albino first. Do not misunderstand me they are awesome but I like albinos more.

Keep in mind he is talking het's...regardless of which way he goes, it's gonna be a while before he produces anything visual...

I'll have to agree with Sho on this one. He is getting Hets, so by the time he produces that Hypo, he may have bought a Psatel or a Spider to mix it with. Also, Adam hit the nail on the head. Hypos have gone up in price over the last four years or so, and finding a Female Hypo isn't easy, and when you do, you are going to pay for it. A Hypo female goes for about twice the price of an Albino female right now, and I think it will remain that way for quite some time. GO HYPO, my 2 cents.
