    Question Rat Cages

I am going to have a rack of cages for my breeder rats. I have the rack located in my basment. Is it going to be too cold for the rats down there during the winter anyways? Maybe 50 or even maybe 40 degrees? My guinea pig used to live down there each winter but I think he was warm enough in his little house and all that fur, will the rats be okay? They will be in a tub that will have a lot of fluffy stuff on the floor so will that be okay?

You could use a space heater.

A little portable heater that you use to heat a room with. There are electric ones you plug into the wall...or oil ones that you fill with oil. They're not particularly expensive and can be used to keep the ambient temps of the area where the rats live at an acceptable level...without having to monitor individual heat pads under each rat enclosure.
