Cleaning an Aquarium for a Snake
Okay, my ball pythons are each going into a 29 gallon aquarium. The aquariums, however, have been in use by water turtles for some years now. What can I use to clean them that will be safe and non-toxic for my snakes?
And, how can I clean the 60 gallon aquarium my snakes have been using for my husband's turtles? Anything specific that I should use or not use?

I hope you are not placing 2 snakes in this 29 gallon.Does this old turtle tank have the calcium buil up around the edges? If so you can lightly scrape it off with a razor knife or such. Then i clean my tanks with a little bleach to get rid of the smells and such. Then rinse with water and let air dry.

It looks like the OP said they'll each be going into a seperate tank.
I always use diluted bleach for herp tanks; just make sure you rinse, rinse, rinse till the smell is gone and everything's, well, rinsed lol. I never measure; just squirt the bleach in a little, scrub with a scrubbie sponge, and hose-rinse out in the yard.
