If I didn't know how to sex BP's and was purchasing an adult female for $300-400 I woudl probably want some kind of written guarantee on sex?

Well i can see that reason.Allthough say you are at a show and find a big female,i have never heard of someone giving you a guarentee on the sex of a snake.Heck they would have to provide a pic to identify the snake also.Like i said not being rude here just never heard of someone supplying papers on a normal ball python
