Albino+Axanthic=Snow; Carmel Albino+Axanthic=?
Has anyone perfomed this cross?
If Carmel Albinos are truly albino (i.e they cant produce functional melanin or get it into their chromatopores properly) then I'd expect this snake to be some kind of white snake as well.

So I guess no one has publicly stated the results of this cross? I hadnt heard of it but I'm not exactly in the Daytona loop eithier
I suppose that it is also possible that this crosses has been done and not really made public for whatever reason (perhaps the snake isnt interesting looking?)
Most likely it just hasnt been done yet.....I wouldnt think it would produce the purest white snake......and with limited resources I can see why this cross may not have been performed yet....breeder have to follow there best hutches and guesses.
Eventually however it will be done.....and who knows it could produce something spectactular and surprising!

The double hets exist ... the cross just hasn't been produced yet ... 1 in 16 ain't the easiest thing in the world with ball python clutches.
No great conspiracy theory here ... sorry to disappoint.

I never thought it to be a conspiracy theory.......Just wondering but would a breeder reveal or highly publicize a snake that isnt interesting looking? That was more of my point...could some crosses have been done and we dont know abouyt them simply because they produce something less than "new eye candy""? Why would you want to publicize market uninteresting results?
But you bring up a good point.
With a 1/16 chance it would be hard to differentiate between "the eye-candy isnt possible" and "I'm just unlucky and didnt produce the eye-candy" Especially if the cross has been attempted by only a few breeder a few times......the double hets are pretty new I take it?
But you answered my question....it seems that people are attempting/planning for it. Thanks.

Absolutely. It's been done again and again with multiple crosses that didn't turn out the way the breeder had hoped.

How is that a conspiracy theory? I was agreeing with you.....

One thing that we can rule out.....carmel and axanthic are not alleles since they produced normal looking double het pythons! If one normal looking offspring is produced then two different gene pairs (loci) complemented one another!
___________________________________________________________________
Have any axanthics or carmel albinos been produced by the double het crosses? If so you could use those offspring in a sib cross to help increase your odds of producing the double recessive! (xx 66% possible Cc x cc 66% possible Xx)=1/9 chance of producing xx cc....still small odds but better (almost double from the previous 1/16 chance)......and it would certainly take a good a bit of time to raise up the offspring of each generation.
