AP T3 Question: I've had the worst of luck
Okay I know too many questions. But of all the poeple on here that have one has any of yours done this: I just checked the thermostat and it read 77 f, now that wasn't right so I checked the warm side and it was completely cold. So has there been and recalls or has this happened before because I just got mine not even a week ago. The box wasn't damaged, it has worked fine up until now.
Any Ideas?

I have the belly heat installed if that helps. That isn't working at all.

I'd call Animal Plastics and discuss it with them. Maybe there's something wrong with the heat cable?

Re: AP T3 Question: I've had the worst of luck
Yeah, they aren't open till monday and for some odd reason My phone company won't let me call them. So my husband got impaient and decided to see what was wrong with it himself. It was fried somehow. Which makes no sense at all, sense it was kept at around 84 - 86F (been waiting on the new thermostat) for the two - three days that it did work. I have to buy a new one now.

Re: AP T3 Question: I've had the worst of luck
I am pretty sure if you contact AP they will do whatever it takes to make it right if it was due to being defective.
I have a T-11 and only have great things to say about AP.
Check the who's online on here as I have seen AP on here many times.

Re: AP T3 Question: I've had the worst of luck
Was the heat cable bad or was the thermostat bad? You can test the heat cable by just plugging into the wall directly and see if it heats up. If it doesn't then its obviously shorted somewhere.
If your tstat is bad, then that's another issue.

Re: AP T3 Question: I've had the worst of luck
I have the belly heat in my T-10 and I have noticed similar problems with the temps fluctuating. I also don't know if it is the thermostat or the belly heat cable, although I do think it is the cable. I noticed the temp on the thermometer are always different than my Herpstat. I've seen the high temps drop down to the 80's when the thermostat is set for 94.5. So I have yet to figure out the problem. I've been moving the probes to different spots to see if that is the problem.

Re: AP T3 Question: I've had the worst of luck
Sounds like a probe placement issue. I've used the heat cable in a T3 and in a rack, and not had problems with either. I did have to play around with probe placement, but once I got it right it has worked fine.
What kind of tstat are you using?

Re: AP T3 Question: I've had the worst of luck
Just a little advice on the probe placement...when I had my T3, I used foil tape to secure the probe directly to the heat cable at the point where the cable comes out of the rear of the cage. Use another thermometer inside the cage to get a reading of the temp you need, and adjust your thermostat to that. If you want to get 92 on the floor, inside the warm hide, you might have your heat cable running at 94-95. The problem with having the probe inside the cage is that your snake is almost surely at some point to move it, and that could totally throw off your tstat.
That worked for me, just thought I'd throw that out.
