couple questions
i want to breed my snakes this coming season but i need to be sure of a couple things.
1, my male is bigger then my female and i was wondering if this would cause a problem. i know that a lot of people breed small males to huge females but ive never seen or heard of anybody that has bred a small female to a bigger male. will he overbreed her or exhaust her or anything? i was planning on just putting them in for 2-3 days at a time and then seperating them for another 2-3 days until i see that she has ovulated.
2, vanessa is at a little over 40 inches and about 1150 grams empty. is she too small? in The Complete Ball Python it says females need to be over 40 inches and in the 1000+ size range and she fits that perfectly but i always read on here that females need to be 1500 grams. i definitely dont want her to be harmed or egg-bound by me breeding her so early so if i have too i will wait no questions asked.
thanks guys.

As long as your female is at the right size, a bigger male isn't going to be a problem. 1150 is too light in my opinion. I think most breeders recommend at least 1500 with some even saying 1800 (there is also the 500gms/ft formula).

Re: couple questions
i personally think 1150 is too small also but i dont know how heavy she will be this coming season. she eats regularly so im hoping she will be at 1500.

Re: couple questions
this is her today at 1558 full. i put the tempgun in there for a size comparison. you can also use the tub for a size comparison. it's all of a CB-70 with maybe a half inch of it still in the slot.
i hope she'll be ready for this season.

Re: couple questions
she's looking good, keep feeding her until around oct/nov then start to slow her down, and start the breeding process.
