Heat
Is it necessary to have a heat lamp and a belly warmer for boas?
How do you heat your enclosure?

Re: Heat
If the UTH is doing the job then no. But if they are in a big VIV it might be good to have a light (non uva or uvb) to help maintain the ambient temp

Re: Heat
For my 2 different boa cages, I use 2 differnt methods of heating. I'll say the pros and cons of them
For my 4' by 2' cage, I use a 150 watt red bulb. The pro is great night time viewing. The con is Harder to keep humidity up
For the 18 qt tub I keep the other boa in, I have an uth under 1 half of the tub. I hate the fact that you have to turn on the room lights to see the boa but its easier to mantain humidity and temps at the same time
Its really up to you

Too many boas to list and a few balls as well

Re: Heat
We use a CHE to help keep ambient temperature up. It's positioned over the water bowl, which evaporates water to help keep humidity up.
But the main heating for is and should be for boas and bp belly heat; we use 2 UTHs controlled by thermostats, one set to 82 and one to 92.

1.0 sunglow motley corn (Jenson), 1.0 albino burmese (Lourdes)
1.0 cat (Nicky), some mooses and ratters, 1.0 hubby (Rick)

Re: Heat
UTH = under-tank heater (heating pad)
Viv = vivarium
uvb = ultraviolet B light (only necessary for lizards)
uva = ultraviolet A light (lizards only)
CHE = ceramic heating element, ceramic heat emitter
