    Hello again, still breathing

HI all, long time no write,
Sorry I went on a quick sabaticle again, been pretty busy.
Griffin had a great bday, we saved up to bring him to the movie cars! loads of fun (that was the end of June, guess it has been a long time huh?)
We also made a nice sheet fort in the living room and played games.
It has been a full last few weeks of rescues. Nothing dramtic for cruelty cases, just alot of I can't take care of it anymore situations. We have taken in:
4 new common boas (man they are everywhere, we are up to 7, 8 if next weekends appointment shows)
    1 Russian Tortoise
1 Red Eared Slider (cute little baby)
1 Malaysian Box Turtle (A real looker with horrible shell rot)
1 Bearded Dragon (Animal Control found roaming in farm land a few towns away)
    1 Texas brown Tarantula
    1 Usambara Starburst baboon Tarantula
    1 Thai Tiger tarantula
There may be a few more, but the brain isn't cooperating at the moment.
We had a few turtle releases:
2 Snapping turtles, an Eastern Box, and a handfull of painteds.
We also had another clutch of Macklotes eggs laid, but sadly none lasted all were duds.
We also found a great new home for our pair of Yellow anacondas, they are just waiting for their new dad to set their future home up, so they're still hanging our here at the reptile ranch. I should take some photos to show how well they've come along since we first got them. (They were some of the refugees from the Long Island Reptile Museum cruelty case.
We have had a few educational shows too, The last one was at a camp for Girl scouts, it went really well, and we are invited back next year. It was alot of fun, and we let Griffin (since he is the big 7 now) hold up and present the ball python in all of it's splendor to all the girls. I have a feeling he is going to be a popular one in second grade..lol
Anyhow long day, I will try and read up abit and pop in more often.
    See you guys soon,
    Rusty

    Re: Hello again, still breathing

my bearded dragon ran away last year... but thankfully we got her back... little brat went off the deck, into the yard and out the back into the baseball diamonds!

we spent the next day running all over trying to hook up with the guy who found her and finally managed to connect at the spca!

glad to hear you are well.

Wow; sounds like you have your hands full; I admire you for taking in these poor unwanted creatures. Hope all of them do better and get/stay healthy; and great to hear from you.

    Thanks for everyone's positive support.
There are many bad days but the good ones are the ones to remember. I took Griffin and my 2.5 year old neice out recently on a herping adventure. I'll have to post some pictures in the field section, keep your eyes peeled!
    Thanks guys

    Re: Heelo again, still breathing

Well if nothing else Rusty the bad days make us appreciate the good ones even more. Easy to say, hard to believe but true none-the-less. I know for me sometimes I just have to grit my teeth and say "okay this is a crappy CRAPPY day and I'll survive it", then remember to really appreciate the good days even if all that is about is a quiet cup of tea or watching my youngest sleep or watch a bit of TV with Mike. The older I get the more I'm learning that good is relative and the best stuff in life is the quiet little gems and joys we often forget to be thankful for.
