Weird feeding(resurection)
Well i have to BP at my house right now mine and my GF. I usually feed them frozedn mice with the exception of my gf BP who refuse to eat a prekilled the first time. Well anyways i was of somewhere when i realized it was time to feed my BP and i barely made it to the petshop about 40 seconds before they close so i asked for a fuzzie but forgot to ask for a frozen one. So i decided what the hell ill just give it to him. He stalked it for a while and finally got it. The initial bite did not kill the mouse so he constricted it for about 10 minutes. He seemed lifeless and the snake started eating but TAIL FIRST i didnt think to much about it until halfway through the mouse it revived and started crying and trying to get out of the mouth the snake finally ate it but it was still moving for a while after veing consumed. Is my BP going to be okay?

Re: Weird feeding(resurection)
I'm sure he'll be fine. Trust me, that mouse didn't last long once it was completely swallowed. Suffocation starts quickly once the head disappears. And a BP's digestive tract is tough... has to be
Just keep an eye on him. If he seems to be having any problems (with breathing, etc), get him to a vet.

Re: Weird feeding(resurection)
it was so weird tough I even i tought the mouse was dead. I guess he felt inside him to because when i put him back on the tank he quiqly went to his hide. Usually after a feeding he stays around a while and moves around the tank before hiding.

Re: Weird feeding(resurection)
If he's used to taking f/t, he may have expended more energy in killing his prey (or, at least, trying to) than he would in just swallowing something that's already dead. Or, it's possible he wanted to start digesting immediately. Who knows what a snake thinks? It's all instinctual to them...
I have a milksnake that doesn't kill live prey... he just immediately begins swallowing it. You can see it moving inside of him after he's swallowed it for a bit, but he's never been hurt by it (he does this because he, too, is used to f/t).
It's happened to one of my BPs, too. Freaked me out the first time. But she was perfectly fine---in fact, the little bugger refuses to take anything BUT live now.

Re: Weird feeding(resurection)
I just checked up on the snake he's brathing and fine and no more moving mouse. I must admit it was fun seing the snake hunt down live prey. When i feed him prekilled i use tongs and it much funners seing them sense them and killing them. I guess im use to seeing rodents die because i started feeding my scorps fuzies every once in a while.

I've seen corns that are not even used to f/t mice eat live mice head-first without even constricting them .

Yeah bu the nasty part was he ate it tail first for some reason so you could see the little guy apening his mouth while in the snakes mouth.

Re: Weird feeding(resurection)
Should've taken a pic! It would've been interesting if you could've caught them like that...
And it's not unusual for snakes to take their prey from the hind end. Some eventually learn the right way, some don't. Some will take it anyway they can get it.

Re: Weird feeding(resurection)
I watched my female gopher snake bite and swallow couple of mouse hoppers/fuzzies (eyes not open yet). I acutally picked up them for free, somebody had accidently? left them behind at the swap and had been gone for at least an hour.
I normally feed f/t, but I think she didn't constrict this time becuase they were so small.
