On the Right Track?
Karl has been arranging and re-arranging the crestie enclosure for two days now, trying to get just the right combination of look he wants and requirements for the crestie. It's been his little project this weekend.
The green at the bottom is a rubberized mat that's sort of spongy (best I can describe it) and I don't think that the crestie will get caught on it if it dive bombs.
The moss is moistened Spanish Moss and he's putting some live pothos in the other side. Are we on the right track?
I've read that they need humidity, but can't find what the ideal humidity should be be. He's had between 55 and 70% humidity and temps range from 70 to 75 degrees.

looks good robin! cresties are super simple to setup, it can be elaborate or plain. when i kept cresteds in the living room in a display. i just misted the tank twice a day. if you'll get a baby i would keep it in a critter keeper or a simple tub, until it gets some size on it. it's easier for babies to find in a small setup. that tank would be fine for juvie or adult. they love to climb around alot, vines and branches are good things.

Yup, we've got a 12 quart tub we'll keep it in if we get a baby until it gets big enough.
He's getting sticks from outside (to my horror) but is sanding them down, soaking them in bleach/water, baking them, and then treating them with PAM.
This is about his fifth tear down and put back together! LOL I'm just thrilled he's showing an interest in reptiles now - he was just planning to go down, spend time on the beach and hang with us in the evening. Now he's really getting excited about attending the show (which he had no interest in initially)!

that's cool, if your husband likes vivs or natural looking setups, there are some reptiles that do well in those types of environments. (skinks, geckos, frogs, etc.) wait until he sees all of the bp morphs in person

Vaughn, I hope seeing them in person will get him even more interested (the bp's).
Oh, and we're not married, just feels like it (been together 10.5 years)!

Re: On the Right Track?
looks good robin. sounds like karl is planning to add some more sticks? vertical climbing structures are always appreciated and will help keep the gecko from hanging upside down on the sides of the cage and getting floppy tail.
anything around 60% humidity is fine. like vaughn said, if you mist twice a day or so they should be fine. i also include a shallow water dish for geckos to drink out of so that the misting is purely for humidity purposes. that way if it does happen to get too dry for a day or two they still have a source of water at all times.

Looks lovely Robin, Karl's doing a nice job. I've seen these neat things at the local PetCo for their cresties. I think it's called a Lil (or Little) Dripper but it's basically a smallish square water holder with a slow drip spout thing that drips onto some nearby vines. Looked pretty neat for the cresties.

Looks great!!! I just mist twice a day and that keeps the humidity spot on.
