Benny lunchtime
Benny decided to have a rat over for lunch today.
Isn't she a fattie?

Re: Benny lunchtime
lol; it was a rat fuzzie, eyes not opened yet.
Benny spends most of her time buried in about a foot of dirt (we actually keep her in a styrofoam cooler full of eco-earth; works great.)

Re: Benny lunchtime
What temps is he kept at? Mine hasn't eaten in about 2-3 months. He hasn't lost much weight either.

Re: Benny lunchtime
I keep her at 80 degrees. We only really feed her once every few months; we watch for when she decided to unbury herself, then offer a baby rat.
A lot of people have said that rats aren't good food, but we feed them in addition to nightcrawlers. Mostly rats, and we aren't having any problemw with this fattie

Re: Benny lunchtime
Hm.. Benny usually does an about-face when she sees the rat, then just clamps down on it.. have you tried mice/rats? They can't be too big or the frog just gets scared and retreats.
Does yours have that "catatonic stare?" Benny does much of the time
If yours is smaller, crickets and nightcrawlers would also be good ideas; that's what this girl ate before she got to be this size. Now she would just ignore these things.

He used to eat fuzzie mice a while back. Won't even touch crickets that I know of. Tried worms and he won't touch them. I have to hold him and hold the worms to his mouth before he will MAYBE take them
