Cal gopher snakes question
Hi, I have a 4 1/2 foot gopher snake and one that is about 3 1/2 feet, someone told me I should try and breed them but does anyone know if these two are too young to breed? And can we keep them together or will they kill each other?
Thanks

Re: Cal gopher snakes question
dont keep them together unless for breeding. it stresses them out and one day you can find one of them found their way into the other ones belly.
to breed, first you have to be sure one is male and one is female so you need to get them probed or popped by a vet or someone else with experience in sexing them.
you also have to be sure the female isnt too small. i dont know what the weight and length requirements are for gopher snakes to breed so i cant help you there.
i recommend you do some research on them. google's your friend.

Thanks, I have a apointment in 2 weeks time for both of them and my Sonoran gopher snake to be sexed by a guy who owns many snakes and I know he is good. I have had him before sexed my kings.
I will look up the goole and have a look. Thanks

Re: Cal gopher snakes question
yeah, i would LOVE to go to college at uc berkeley. its so, oooh whats the word, cultural(?) i guess in the city. it just has a cool vibe to it.
there's not a wide variety of reptiles in northern california like there is in southern cali, but northern california has a lot of salamanders and frog/toads, espescially in the bay area in the mountains around berkeley and san francisco.
i have to say i like southern cali better wen it comes to herps. they have a lot of cool herps in the mojave. chuckwallas, tortoises, gilas, collareds, iguanas, etc. i took a herpin trip down there this summer and had a blast. i have pics if you'd like me to show them.
