Yep I know some dogs that love their kennnel and retreat to it to get away from kids bugging them and so forth. Depending on how warm your house is, some folks will even put a blanket over a metal type kennel and make a real dark den out of it (not a great idea if your house is hot and you might be cutting back on cooling breezes though).
Gunnar our young pup is currently curled up on her blanket in her kennel. She's just been out for a play and a trip out to the yard for a pee, had a bit to eat and a drink and is now back in there with her toys. She's still in the housetraining stage and the chew everything stage so cage training her is a blessing for her and for us. Her cage is right in the middle of the house and near the computer so she gets to feel part of the household even when in her kennel.
Please excuse the gawd awful walls...this is a rental and this awful red is going to be a lot of work to cover over...blech!
