Not good; really graphic pic..
Well, it all ended as far as this egg was concerned today. We looked in to see how things were going in the r-maid and were greeted by the worst stench I have ever smelled coming out of the egg. We decided to slit the egg, to see what was really going on in there, and the yolk and veins were black mostly; smelled like a rotting corpse. I think that since the yolk was rotting, and had to have been for awhile now, it was only a matter of time before the entire snake died. It was very misshapen and deformed lokoing as you can see from the pic.
This actually happened with the other eggs, though it was right away; they all had this similar smell of death and the rotting.
I am pretty damned upset right now; I just know that this snake was dead before we slit it today. The yolk was black and disgusting and the snake actually was seperated from the sac at the cord; seemed like it was bleeding into the egg and when we took it out, the blood was already in the shell. I have no idea how this happened; we never flipped the egg during candling, never dropped it or anything. I guess mother nature can be a cruel wench sometimes. Here is the pic.. I am really upset.

Re: Not good; really graphic pic..
thanks; the worst part is him coming so far and then this happening. I can see how even the skin under his jaw (it was visible throuhg the home in the egg yesterday) took no a blackish hue; I know he was a goner. I don't know if it was a genetic thing, as his bldy is so oddly bloated and bunched up in places. It looks like maybe (I know little about eggs and the science behind them) that maybe the snake was taking too long and possibly outlived its egg's yolk, which started going bad? I wish I knew.

I'm really sorry things didn't work out. I know it has been tough from the start, but I hope this doesn't get you too discouraged from trying again.

I'm so sorry. I've been following your threads on this and to see it come to this... I'm just really sorry.
But hopefully all your bad luck was used up this year so that next year it all goes to plan.
