Savannahs really need to be on a mainly insect diet with a small rodent here and there. Feeding mainly rodents will cause them to get quite obese. At least the insects make them move and have to chase the insects around. Roaches are a good staple, as are grasshoppers, crickets, superworms, etc. You will have a much healthier, longer-lived Savannah if you feed an insect diet versus feeding a rodent diet.

It is ok to give them a small mouse every 2 weeks or so as a treat. Hoppers give them a run for their money
