    Critique this property!

Tomorrow, Mark and I are going to look at a piece of property. We are renting an awesome farmhouse with a barn to keep our horses in, plenty of pasture, and hay.. but there's something missing here. It's not ours... not to mention personal issues with our LLord.
So the place we're looking at has 95 acres and a small; I mean, small.. house. 400 square feet is how small! But supposedly it has a basement also, which would double space. We wuld probably live here until we could build something bigger; thinking of getting a brand new doublewide. Don't laugh; they are Nice; 2 bathrooms, etc.
Here are some pics; the listing states it is about 75 percent wooded (awesome!) and roughly 10 acres of farmed land rented to a farmer (think it's hay.) You cannot even see an inkling of any buildings from the road; there's a long driveway that snakes into the woods to it.
Now, I am pretty upset on how small the house is; I always pictured myself livin' out my days in a huge open plan farmhouse.. we were thinking we could build-on since there's already the "basic" building aswell as septic, elec, etc. The price is in the neighborhood of 180k. So please, my awesome friends at BP.net, give me your honest opinions! The negative is, we will have to build a small shelter for the horses (my man is awesome at building though.) If we logged a path into the woods, we could probably get around 40K to add onto the mrotgage. And no, I will Not get rid of a single pet! (just the 2 horse babies we were selling anyway this fall, and maybe a few fish I could consign at my friend's pet store.).)
EDIT: OMFG; I just read that it is only 20 foot by 20 foot!! How could i stand it? lol; it would only be until we could add on; and there is a basement (what's a "slab basement?") and 1 detached garage.

Sigh.. it has this awesome pond too.

With 95 acres couldn't you just build as big of a house as you want? That current one is way small...

    Re: Critique this property!

We might want to leave the cabin there; see, Mark's uncle is possibly divorcing his wife, and he is sick of living in the city; he would be glad to rent from us. We were also thinking of maybe renting it out in the fishing season, for weekenders, to make a few bucks
Hell, if all else fails and Mark and i get into a squabble, I could just live in the trailer next to it!

On a side note, I am really pist right now; there are people shooting shotguns off now (at 10mp at night, in pitch blackness!??!) and they're so close I can hear the echoes of the shots, like the bullets are going right by the house; and I am home alone.. just waiting for that fugitive Bucky Phillips to come knocking at the door; guys I am SCARED right now!!!!!!

    Re: Critique this property!

It looks like a fabulous piece of propery! I'd be drooling if it were my opportunity! And if I could afford something like the double-wide to go on it right away, I wouldn't hesitate. Hehehe...maybe you could turn the existing house into the "barn"? Or it would make a lovely little guest house.

I do agree that 20x20 is way too small. That's about the size of my master bedroom! LOL Craziness! But well worth a bit of extra expense and inconvenience if the rest of the property is so perfect!

And then, once you get settled into the trailer, you can make plans to build your dream house! How fun would that be?!?

180k for 95 acres isn't bad. I live in Vegas, and right now 180k buys you about 0.125 acre w/o a house on it or a condo.

Bull Doze that cabin or enlarge it. Make it a 2000+ square feet house (we have 1600 or so, plenty big). Keep the rest and invest in some ATV's and Dirt Bikes. 8)

    Re: Critique this property!

Sounds good We already have one ATV; I use it for hauling horse poopy everyday and also to rip around; I swear I feel 100% safer on it than I do driving a car. The one thing we need is a tractor for mowing and snowplowing; no way around that. Mark wants to make a mud pit somewhere and get an old Jeep to mess around with.
I hear ya Judy; the living room I am sitting in right now is bigger than 20x20!!!!

Wow they are just shooting there guns off with no regards of neighbors .That would be enough for me to cancel the deal on buying it.Who knows what they will do once you move in.
