    Ugh silly snake

so today was feeding day...first refusal. I know she's hungry cuz she's been out exploring the past 2 nights. I put in the f/t small rat and she checked it out for a long time, then nothing. I tried dangling it and everything. She just won't eat the rat. She started out on live but the last 2 feedings she ate f/t willingly. I don't know if it was just a "bad rat" does that happen? I'm gonna try a different f/t rat tonight to see if that makes a difference. I know my husbandry is correct. As I am typing this she is "sniffing" where the rat was laying. OHHHH what a picky girl! She is just waiting for food, but I think she expects me to marinate it in a mild butter sauce and then simmer it over an open flame. Then she'll probably want an ice cold beer to wash it down.

I have had a couple of them do that to me after switching to f/t. They take a few, then decide to hold out for a live one I think .... if she does not take it tonight, I would just wait for next week.

Why the need to feed again so soon? I'd just wait until next week. I have one that was eating f/t for several months, and then just stopped. It's taken live to get her going again, but once she's an established eater then I'll try her on f/t again. One week refusal is nothing to sweat.

I dunno, I was going to try it again tonight b/c she just seems hungry. She's in her hide with her poked right out like she's just waiting for a nice rat to waltz on by. I'm a sucker! she owns me

You can try again tonight, but waiting until next week's feeding day would be fine and I think many posters here would suggest, it would be better. Skipping a meal is okay. =)

Just remember you aren't doing her any favors by offering food frequently. It will actually cause stress, and can lead to more refusals. I don't think one additional attempt at feeding will be the end of the world, but I would recommend try to stick to once a week as a rule.
