What Would You Suggest?
OK, I just registered here, but have been reading helpful threads here for a while. My girlfriend and I just moved into a new house that she insists on keeping xtremely cold. I have added a lamp to both of my bp tanks to make up for it. Now all of the humidity is gone. If i take the lamps away, the hum comes back but the temp drops too low. Please tell me how to find the happy medium. Oh yeah, have uth's already in each tank. My friend down the street says that I should throw my girlfriend out and turn the heat up in the house, haha. I would like to make that my last resort, what would you do?

you have glass tanks?
Sometimes in the winter, i'll drape a towel ove rthe top of the tank, helps hold the heat and hum.

spray the setups once or twice a day, and use humid hides while in shed.

If it's being kept cold this time of year due to your A/C settings you could perhaps move the snake's enclosures to one room and turn the vents closed in that particular room (like a spare bedroom or something like that).

That's exactly what I do. My guys are all in a closed spare bedroom that has the vent closed off, and the room averages 82-84 degrees. It works well.
Repeat:
I had tanks in the past, and I used a UTH in combination with a 75w red lightbulb (Exo-Terra I believe). I had both of them plugged into a ReptiTemp 500R thermostat and with having the thermostat's probe right next to the thermometer's probe on the warm side, everything was perfect. As for humidity, switch to something like shredded coconut husk (the kind that comes in a compressed brick). It holds moisture very well and you only have to mist every 3-4 days or so. Plus it's 100% natural and safe to feed on, if any gets ingested it breaks down in the stomach just like food. I covered almost the entire screen top in 3 layers of tinfoil and 2 layers of black duct tape. This kept heat and humidity in very well, I only had to mist every 3-4 days.
I made a thread with pics about all that stuff, check it out:

Re: What Would You Suggest?
Thanks peeps. I've only been a bp owner for about 6 months. Got my 2nd three months after the first. Never had temp/hum problems until I moved into the new house. Tried misting couple days back and lasted for about an hour. I didnt even notice the big a/c vent fixxing to slap me in the face. That'll probroly do it. Will try the towel if it doesnt.

Yep it's great to have that isn't it Jen. When we were looking for places to rent here in Toledo one of the selling points of this old house (it's an up/down duplex) was the spare room off the master bedroom. I assume it was meant for a small sitting room or a nursery or something but it works perfect as the ball python room (the milksnake and the young BCI live in other rooms). I had an older Acu-Rite that lost it's probe so it's affixed to a wall in the bp room and I can watch the rooms temps and humidity and adjust the whole room too as needed.
Now I just need one of these for the room!

I need one of those too, that's cute. We fell for our house the minute we came inside. 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, nice big livingroom and big kitchen. We decided the front guest room would be the snake room because it has a big window for sunlight and always stays warmer. Without the A/C coming in, it hovers around 82-84 degrees, which is perfect because then the heat cable in the back of the rack heats up to 92 degrees and gives them all a perfect gradient. Plus I can handle them for a good amount of time without worrying they'll get cold.
I also keep the rodents in there on the opposite side of the room. They seem a lot more active and happy because they're comfy and warm.
