    lighting

So as I was at the petsmartco store getting more supplies to heat my tank today talked with the "reptile expert" who wanted me to make sure I was using UV lighting and heat lamps. However the more I read on forums and different websites sound like lighting is not much of an issue. If that is the case I could then scrap that super bright light and go with either a ceramic or redlight to help keep my ambient temps up. Sound about right?

Yes...scrap the lights. (Better yet....get your money back for them!) Not only do BP's not need super bright lights, they don't even like them. If you must use some sort of lamp as a heating source, then go with the red bulbs or CHE, which doesn't put out any light at all.

Many pet store "experts" seem to think all reptiles need UV lighting. Ball pythons are nocturnal - they come out at night when the sun is down. They do not require UV lighting - natural light in the room is just fine!

Just exchanged all the light crap and am going with a single redlight (had to wait on the ceramic for now) and will just use daylight for lighting. Thanks for the info.
