Don't worry about the mites spreading to your snake collection. There are MANY different species of mites, and the common snake mite (Ophionyssus Natricis) will not be living on a scorpion. The best way to control the mite populations on your scorpion is to keep in on a dry substrate for a while, and replace the substrate every few days or so to get rid of any eggs laid. The mites will reproduce much quicker in a humid moist climate. Most of the mites should finish their life cycle in the next month or so, and if you get rid of all the eggs (in the substrate), you should be mite-free once the current residents die off.
