    Odd situation

I've been noticing this since I got Athena. She doesn't use her warm side hide. She spends all day in her cool side hide and then at night moves over and hangs out outside her other hide on the warm side. Both hides are identical. Temps are bang on. Any Ideas??? at least she is regulating her temps by moving back and forth, but she just doesn't use the hide. Other than that she is perfectly normal and has a great feeding response.

Well if everything is fine with her you have nothing to worry about. Some just like to spend their time on a certain side no matter what.

I've had Samus for a few weeks and she uses the cool side hide exclusively. temps 82ish cool 94ish warm. Both hides are identical. I guess different snakes have different preferences.

Alex are you measuring the temps at substrate level near the warm hide or actually inside the warm hide? Some hides depending on their construction will hold a lot of heat.

I measure outside. But I have placed the probe inside the hide and noticed about a degree difference. 93 outside, 94 inside.

Well if your temps are good and the hides are the same and she's moving back and forth and also eating well...heck I wouldn't worry over it too much LOL. She's likely going in and out of her hides a lot more than you see her doing it.

i was just going to say (and jo beat me to it) that you probably just don't see her going inside... i thought my ball never left his hide when i first got him and then i noticed the aspen was always patted down... and realized it was him when i wasn't lookin'!
