Madagascar Tree Python/Boa

I saw some of these a couple of weeks ago - can't remember if they were Python or Boa species - does anybody have them? They belonged to the breeder I got my BCI from and I thought they might be feisty (like the beautiful Amazon tree boas - I would sooooo love) . He even got one of them out and they were very handleable.

Do you mean sanzinia madagascariensis? That is the madagascar tree boa.. though it is not arboreal. It is fairly rare and expensive now.. comes in two natural morphs, green and mandarin phase. Has the coolest boa head anywhere and is drop dead gorgeous.

From my experience with them, or my buddy's experience anyway, (he has breeding groups of both color phases), they are calm, deliberate animals. The babies aren't even nippy. They are slow growers, with a slow metabolism. Adult males eat about once a month, and fast during the cool cycle. Females eat year-round, but still only once or twice a month. If you are looking to breed them, expect babies every other season, or even every third season from each female. More breeders are finding that multiple males is an asset to each breeding group (male-male combat). They are beautiful animals, but getting babies is a lesson in patience.

They were very awesome and calm (well the one he got out was) and they were both sat on a high up branch in a special viv.

If they are easy and nice I wouldn't mind a couple one day.
