Hehe to be honest I don't even know if I can see (most likely I am sure but have never tried).

They are not negative in any way. When a new member registers for the site there si a box called Referrer that allows you to input the name of a member who told you about the site. Of course that may not apply and you may have googled your way here, or cant remember the username etc etc etc. Number of referrals just indicates how many people put your name in that field.

I guess if you wanted to have a recruitment campaign or something you could then track the amount of new folks who had been referred by a certain member. That would seem to place quantity over quality though. In short that is just an inherent part of the forum software that is nto used to determine anything positive or negative - has no bearing on you user status.

I can look into getting that field taken out of public profiles if it seems misleading or too distracting.
