    Humidity levels in hideboxes

The thermo-/hygro-meter in my setup is outside the hide (as it is in everyone's, I believe). When cleaning, though, I've noticed that there's usually "sweat" on the inside of the hidebox resulting from water condensing on the plastic. Coupled with the fact that the hide is over the heater, I figure this has to be increasing the humidity inside the hide by at least 5-10%, which I've never thought about or taken into account while maintaining a certain humidity levels. I haven't had any problems at all...just the wanderings of my mind on a Friday afternoon. Thoughts, anyone?

I wouldnt really worry unless the substrate inside the hide is really wet, but if its not soggy and damp. youre fine

    Re: Humidity levels in hideboxes

What is the general humidity in the enclosure? In order for condensation to form, there is generally excess water in the air. If you have a humidity of 80+%, I can see condensation forming on just about any surface. If your enclosure humidity is lower than 50%, condensation seems a bit odd.

What are you using to measure your humidity levels?

    Re: Humidity levels in hideboxes

I'm not worried at all, just curious what everyone thinks. The snakes are happy, healthy, eating and shedding, which is good enough for me.

I'm using a digital thermometer/hygrometer with an extra probe (for measuring the warm side). I don't actually know the brand -- I picked it up from the hardware store in town. I usually keep the humidity at 50-60%, but take it up to 70-75% for a shed.
