Breeding Question.
I had bought a female that was already pregnant and last week she got really big (like she ate a baseball) and the past 4 days she is small now, not big around at all. Is that normal or is she not going to have them or is it too early to tell.

Re: Breeding Question.
Hopefully she didnt eat them! I dont know about breeding much but I know that they will sometimes eat them. BTW, is it a mouse or at, because i think mice are more prone to eat their young.

Re: Breeding Question.
Is she down to basically normal size for an adult female rat? They don't shrink back like that unless they've delivered their litter at least not that I've ever seen. Is she in an enclosure alone or with other rats? I'd remove any adults and go through that bedding looking for evidence that she delivered or pinks were cannabalized or even buried under bedding. There shouldn't be a lot to find as rats don't make much of a mess when they have their babies but I'd still see if I could find any indication she'd recently delivered. Did you ever hear any little baby rat squeeking at all?

She shrunk a little but you can tell that she shrunk, shes in the cage with the male, lately ive noticed though that she sleeps alot and sleeps in the weirdest positions, sometimes it looks like shes dead lol. No little squeeks.
