    yet more questions...

well, my baby girl will be here friday morning, and I have her new bin almost all set up, but am wondering something...

the uth I bought said "do not use on plastic". now normally, I would just assume NOT to use it on plastic, but since I've been coming here, I've learned all rules dont necessarily apply LOL

so if I am using a thermostat (which I bought today as well) it should be safe enough to use the uth on a sterilite bin, right? all the other ones I looked at didnt specify if you could use them on plastic or not, and the ones I bought didnt have that info on the OUTSIDE of the darn box.

so am I stuck with $45 worth of stuff I cant use, or is it ok as long as I monitor it regularly?

    Re: yet more questions...

With a thermostat it should be fine. What brand of UTH is it?

If it's not safe to use on plastic, it's not safe to use on an animal..

They're assuming you're not going to use a t-stat and the thing is going to get too hot (like any UTH without a t-stat) and melt the plastic.

    Kritterz "Sauna Zone Heat Mat"

thats what the paper says. definately using a thermostat. dont want to have any horror stories of my own cause I didnt listen to you folks.

I'm getting ready to plug it in, but I'll wait till I hear back from you.

forgot to mention, the thermostat is a ZooMed ReptiTemp 500R

    Re: yet more questions...

I don't know how reliable the ZooMed T-stat is.. it is the cheapest t-stat around.

Definitely set up the UTH for at least a few days before putting it with the snake to make sure it doesn't get too hot.

    nearly impossible to wait LOL

I'm the one in the family who you can say "I got you something for christmas"...in AUGUST...and they let me stew and think and see if I can figure it out. I'm the fish of the family.

and she is SO beautiful...I think once I cna convince my SO that more snakes are a GOOD thing, I'll pick up a few more, but not for a little while yet.

yeah but see, my SO brews his own beer. it costs about 70 to 140 a MONTH depending on the type of beer and whether or not he needs to buy more fermenting parts. *wicked grin* I dont ask for much, so when I DO, I tell him, well you spent this much on beer. its worked so far lol
