    New addition

Here is Kaiser, he is a 4yr old BCI about 6ft+. I just got him today from a friend that can no longer care for him. He is in great condition and just got a clean bill of health from the same herp vet I go to. He is awesome! Strong as an OX! Here he is with my girlfriend and my son (aka home dog)

He looks good Brian, congrats on giving him a home! Once he's settled in you'll have to let us know if he's got the typical good temperment of most of BCI's as well as that killer feeding response. They really are great bigger snakes, I'm sure your family will enjoy keeping him.

    Re: New addition

My friend explained all the little things Kaiser had gone through (medically) since he was little (only small stuff like a raw nose and a couple of scratches and a bad shed or two) he even provided me with a copy of the medical records and had him get a check up before coming to me.

His feeding response suprised me, he usually eats every two weeks. His last feed was two weeks ago so I decided to try, I gave a medium rat and he struck it soo hard it knocked the rat out and it was allover. Now he is acclimating, he is still in the same enclosure he has always been in but I know the smells and outside surroundings are different so I'm going to let him settle in for a week.

I thought my adult BP's were big, they don't even compare to this beast!

    Re: New addition

Even the males get pretty hefty though you want to see big check out the big female BCI Jamie Glass has....she's wonderful!

I seriously have got to measure and weigh our foster BCI, Rauri, tomorrow and get some new pics. He's about 2.5 years old and around that 6 foot mark too. He eats every two weeks as well...either jumbo rats or 4 week old baby meat rabbits or the occasional guinea pig the pet store wants rid of. One nice thing with most BCI's is they aren't as prey specific as BP's but do watch that strike range...it's darned impressive and they aren't fooling around when they are in the hunting mood LOL.

Wait till Kaiser is out for some exercise and decides to claim some piece of furniture for his very own. Ohhhhhh fun to unwind a big, bull strong stubborn snake from his new prize. You just get a few feet loose when bingo...they reach out and grab something else LOL. How's he about going into his enclosure? A lot of them are tough to put back, not mean but determined to stay out so you end up hoisting the butt in while the head's come back out to explore again.

One thing when you do start handling Kaiser a lot, watch for their big head swings when they are in your arms. Rauri's been known to swing out and hook the fridge door open, knock stuff flying or even smack his own head. Since he seems to enjoy lazing around with my husband watching sports on TV, I think he was trying to grab a beer from the fridge on the way by! LOL

    Re: New addition

The word strong is used lightly with this guy, I think he could pull a tank! Yes I have had the fun of trying to stick him back in his enclosure, almost broke a sweat doing it! My son is so into this snake and it's size that he now wants a Burm. Before I put him in to acclimate I decided to see if he would feed as it had been two weeks, sure enough that rat never had a chance! Here's some pic's. I hope the feeding pic doesn't offend anyone, it's not meant to.

    Nice to meet you!

    Thanks for LUNCH!!!

    Re: New addition

Gotta love that feeding response! Excellent photo's Brian. Nobody should be offended after all what else does a snake do but eat rodents lol (well and be the greatest pet every invented!) Actually I'd far rather see a snake eating it's prey than watch your typical pet cat go after a mouse (now that is a way messier kill!)

Awhile back Rauri's owner, Becky (SatanicIntention) posted a whole thread of pics of Rauri eating a bunny and no one objected to it, though it's worthwhile to note that Rauri eats meat bunnies that were never bred nor intended for the pet trade. Here's a link to those photo's if you are interested.
