    Hello!

Hello! I am a new BP owner though I am not new at taking care of herps. I am a herp sitter as well as having 4 bearded dragons of my own. Now I have a baby Black Stripe Ball Python. I am not sure if it is a boy or girl, I will be getting >It< probed this next week. Sadie if it's a girl,.. Monty if it's a boy. I will have pix of the new baby soon. Hopefully if it sits still for just a sec I will take a pic against a ruler or something to show how long. I think maybe ten inches max. The set up that I have right now is a ten gallon aquarium with a secure top a large yet shallow water bowl and a coconut hide. Paper towels as the substrate. The temps have been ranging between 85 to 90 during the day and at around 80 at night. How low can the night temps be at night? I have heard many takes on this and I think 70 might be too low. I just got the baby so I haven't had the chance to get too creative yet. I hope to make many friends here and to learn alot more about the husbandry of our beloved Ball Pythons!

    Re: Hello!

Welcome to the site! You'll have to post some pics of your baby bp.

Do not let you temps drop below 80 degrees, unless you are in the processing of breeding. You want an approximate temp of 92 on the hot side an 82 on the cool side. If you have any specific questions, just ask.

    Re: Hello!

That's great! Thanx. As soon as I can I will take some pics. I need to give my snake a couple days to adjust to the new home/environment before I mess with it.

    Re: Hello!

I currently have one that is hands off. Although if she eats tomorrow, then I'll try and handle her Saturday!!! I can't wait. It's sooo hard restraining myself.

    Re: Hello!

It seriously is! I can't wait until the "quarantine" time is over, I am trying five days because I think it might have been a bit traumatized and also the baby is shedding. The last shed didn't go as well and the previous owners (pet store) had to assist so I am hoping this time everything will be alright. I am positive that the calm environment that I am providing here will not add to the stress of shedding.
