    nipped tail Pied

I have been wanting a pied for a while now but the price has gotten to my wallet. My own buisness outside my love for snakes is farley new. However i found one I may be able to afford. It is a cutie but may not be able to breed. Is this a great once in a life time kind of deal or a crazy risk?

Boy, tough call...he's awful pretty, but even beyond breeding, is he going to be okay as he gets older? =P

Hard to say. The guy says he eats fine and poops fine. He also got the ok from the vet but who knows if it was even a herp vet. He left his number though so if you all can leave some good questions to ask, that would be great!

    Re: nipped tail Pied

Yikes. If you could inspect the snake in person, that would be one thing. If the seller is willing to send you clear, detailed, close-up pics of the injury, that would be a lot better than the fuzzy, can't-quite-tell-what's-going-on photos already posted.

As far as it being able to breed, don't necessarily count on it unless you see a pic of everted, intact hemipenes. Tail damage *can* have a big impact on a males ability to breed, and since the seller hasn't provided an up-close-and-personal pic of that injury, I'd be very leery.

Just my $4.00 (adjusted for fuel surcharge).

Wow, it looks like it got cut off right below the cloaca. I'm not sure how the hemipenes would have made it through that ordeal. Still, I'm sure it would make a nice pet, but still kind of pricey for one that can't breed.

    Re: nipped tail Pied

Thank you all for your advice. Even if it is a great price, his health may be in question. If it is more than harmless nip that adds a bit of charcter I am out. I would rather pay for a healthy happy pet.
