new member and trying out a question

Hey all! I'm a new member and fairly new bp owner. I love reptiles and I lucked out in getting a healthy ball my first try. the only thing that I've noticed is that he sometimes makes what I can only describe as a whistling or wheezing sound. its as if he's blowing air forcefully through his nostrils. he doesn't do it all the time and its mostly when he sees something new and is checking it out. all other times he breathes normally. I'm just woundering if I need to make another vet visit or if I'm being a paranoind new father.

Welcome! Yes, sounds like a respiratory infection, the vet is the place to go! Make sure you have a real reptile vet. You can go here to find one in your area http://www.arav.org/Directory.htm

The main cause for RIs is too low temperatures. Make sure that the temperatures in the cage are 92-94 degrees on the warm side, and 82-84 on the cool side. Nothing below 80 degrees anywhere, ever.

It's a good idea to read our care sheet here, it covers most aspects of ball python husbandry: http://www.ball-pythons.net/modules....warticle&id=52

Daniel, I wish you'd told me this last night! Either way, this community is more than happy to help. What did you name your little guy anyway? (Haha. Brad's already met you, I think, Daniel. I think he was there the night we sexed him and fed him.)

Anyways...You know you're going to have to post pictures of your kids, right?

    Love you!
