    Post ok need advice

I have to say thanks to everybody on here for all the advice again, but here's another question for you. My friend has a red tail boa, had him for about a year and a half, and just recently got him a 40 gallon tank with all the assentials, well just fed him like last week and the boa pooed today and there was alot of water and little white bugs crawling all over the poo and the white poo wich is yellow i had never seen before, so what should i tell them to do. I just told them to take him to the vet. but can anyone tell me what the bugs are doing there and why was it so watery, and such please... thank you

You need to take a sample to the vet for testing.

    Re: ok need advice

Well, I can't tell for sure what the bugs are, but the 'white poo' is urates. Completely normal.. it's sort of a solid form of urine. It is chalk like when dry and usually white or yellow.

I second the suggestion of getting a fecal test done at the vet (a reptile vet) and I'd suggest taking the snake to the vet for a check up too. How does your friend keep the snake?

Being underweight is a sign of internal parasites.

Does your friend have a digital thermometer to measure his temps/humidity? Just an UTH without a thermostat is no good. He needs a T-stat and a thermometer/hygrometer to help him keep the temps/humidity correct.

    Re: ok need advice

As I have just learned from Becky, a snake can't get parasites from eating an infested mouse.. it'll be interesting to hear what the vet has to say.

    Re: ok need advice

ok well the vet took a poo sample and nothing was found, as for the little bugs, she had forgotten to inform me that she just bought a new hide and didnt wash it, so the boa is fine and all is well, he is just getting longer do to his look of getting thinner but no wories the vet says.... so we just all think that the new hide that she had gotten was not cleaned
