I saw an albino boa at a show once with a severely kinked back end for $300......i passed on the sale, but should i have perhaps reconsidered?

It depends. You never would have been able to breed it. And I would've checked that the snake had no problems eating. But, beyond that, I bet the snake would've made an absolutely gorgeous pet.
