Up cuz I can't sleep because someone *cough* is snoring...=P

I think the rule of thumb is the square footage floor space = length of snake. So, for example, our 20L glass vivs are 30" x 12" x 12", so the floor space is 42". When our snakes grow longer than 42", they will need a bigger enclosure.

The average adult size of a bp is what, 4-6'? So a 40L glass viv, a 4' x 2' boaphile, and/or whatever the biggest Sterilite tub size for those who keep snakes in tubs is what you are looking at. =)

    *edit*
My brain is weird at 3am...snakes in tubs reminds me of that Muppet Show segment "PIIIIIGS IIIIIN SPAAAAAAACE"...anyone with me on this?

    Re: full grown enclosure size?

As far as tubs go I use tubs only at this point, my two adults are in Sterilite #1960's and the two smaller ones are in Sterilite 1986, works great, and easy to control.

The Sterilite 1960/Iris CB70 tub size is pretty much standard for adult ball pythons. The tubs measure around 36"L x 17"W x 6"H

    Re: full grown enclosure size?

I agree with Daniel. Anything more than a 3 ft enclosure is a waste of space.

    Re: full grown enclosure size?

And it follows the rule of thumb for the length of the snake. 36" + 17" = 53" or a snake that's just about 5', which is the average adult size for a bp.

See?! I can think at 3am!
